Smart meters quickly changing the vendor landscape, new Chartwell report reveals
ATLANTA – Sept. 1, 2009 – The climate for smart meters is bullish, with more than 39 million endpoints under contract and in deployment and millions more that will be upgraded in coming years. With the industry transition to advanced metering systems as part of a holistic smart grid, the traditional vendor landscape is changing rapidly and new players are emerging as smart metering market leaders, according to market research firm Chartwell Inc.
Chartwell details this new emerging vendor landscape in its latest report, Smart Metering Vendors & Other AMR Companies. Based on Chartwell’s annual survey of 100-plus utilities and other primary and secondary research, this report examines vendor market share based on meter installations, breaking down data by total automation and advanced meters only. Plus, Chartwell projects future advanced metering market share, based on installed or under-contract smart meters.
