Southern Company Executive to Deliver Keynote Presentation at EMACS 2009

ATLANTA, June 2, 2009 – EMACS – The Customer Experience Conference will feature a keynote address from Tom Fanning, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Southern Company, conference organizer Chartwell Inc. announced today.

This featured presentation will launch the 12th annual EMACS Conference, to be held Oct. 12-14 at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta. EMACS – The Customer Experience Conference will offer numerous presentations designed to offer encouraging and implementable strategies for efficient operations while maintaining a customer-focused culture.

Southern Company, the parent organization of operating utilities Alabama Power, Georgia Power, Gulf Power and Mississippi Power, will serve as the EMACS 2009 Host Utility. Southern Company is overcoming many of today’s obstacles by observing a customer-centric approach, as will be discussed during Fanning’s keynote presentation.

Fanning will detail Southern Company’s simple business model known as the “Circle of Life,” which comprises an effective blend of high reliability, lower prices, constructive regulation, healthy capital spending and customer satisfaction.

This keynote presentation will kick off two full days of quality information and networking opportunities for utility professionals in customer service, energy efficiency, marketing, communications, Web, billing and other customer-facing programs and services.
