Chartwell Best Practices Award to recognize excellence in outage communications at 2009 Summit
ATLANTA - August 5, 2009 - For the second year, Chartwell will recognize utilities' achievements in providing customers with better information during power outages.
The Chartwell Best Practices Award for Outage Communications will honor results-oriented initiatives aimed at improving customer contact and information delivery during outages, both planned and unplanned.
The award is open to entrants of any size electric, gas or combination investor-owned, government-owned or cooperative utility in North America. Vendors and consultants aiding utilities in outage communications endeavors also may enter specific utility programs with permission from the utility involved.
Vancouver-based BC Hydro won the inaugural 2008 award for its multi-faceted "Outage Communications Initiative," launched in response to major outages that affected an estimated 800,000 customers during the 2006-07 winter storm season.
