SDG&E to be host utility for EMACS - The Customer Experience Conference

ATLANTA - June 2, 2010 - Chartwell is pleased to announce that San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) will serve as host utility for EMACS 2010 - The Customer Experience Conference, which will be held this year on Oct. 25-27 in beautiful downtown San Diego.

In its 13th year, EMACS - The Customer Experience Conference brings together marketing, customer service and customer communications professionals from leading utilities to discuss common and unique issues that impact the customer experience and ultimately customer satisfaction.

"Our theme this year is High Tech, High Touch 2.0; Understand and Connect with Your Customers. It's a theme of industry transformation, and I can think of no better utility to be our host this year than SDG&E," said Dennis Smith, EMACS Chair and vice president of research and information delivery for conference organizer Chartwell Inc. "California is leading the nation in smart grid initiatives, and SDG&E is at the forefront of that movement."

EMACS 2010 will be about utilities transforming their customer-facing operations to meet the demands of new technology, from smart grid and smart metering to efficiency programs, evolving customer contact channels and social media. These new and emerging technologies are changing the way utilities operate.

This year's agenda will feature a presentation from futurist Garry Golden, as well as case study presentations from a number of utilities, including: SDG&E, Arizona Public Service, Commonwealth Edison, DTE Energy, Florida Power & Light, London Hydro, Omaha Public Power District, Salt River Project, Southern Company and many more.

SDG&E is a subsidiary of Sempra Energy and provides service to 1.4 million electric and 840,000 natural gas customers in Southern California. Its service territory spans 4,100 square miles.

EMACS - The Customer Experience Conference is the utility industry's leading conference and networking event for executives and managers in customer service, marketing and related fields. It not only provides the best in networking opportunities and content, from case study presentations to an executive discussion panel, but showcases some of the nation's leading vendors of customer-focused technologies and services.

EMACS is organized by Atlanta-based Chartwell Inc., an independent information firm that produces in-depth research on customer-facing issues within the utility industry. Using its research as the springboard, Chartwell offers conferences and other educational events where utility leaders and Chartwell analysts discuss successful programs, innovative strategies and solutions to the industry's most pressing issues.
