AMI boom underway; key acquisitions alter vendor landscape

AMI boom underway; key acquisitions alter vendor landscape

ATLANTA - The AMI boom has arrived in which energy delivery companies will transition to advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) such as never before. In fact, Chartwell data shows more than 85% of utilities have installed, or could potentially install AMI in the near future.

Chartwell offers the AMR Vendors & Technologies Report 2007 as a roadmap of the industry’s leading communications technologies and the vendors that provide them. The report also analyzes the emerging vendor landscape, which has changed significantly over the past year with numerous acquisitions.

The comprehensive report contains quantifiable data and analysis based on Chartwell’s newest annual metering survey of 100-plus utilities, as well as its dynamic database of more than 800 utility automated meter reading (AMR) installations. It offers the current state of leading technologies including: mobile radio, fixed radio, power line carrier and more. Further, it examines data trends regarding these technologies and how they are currently viewed from a utility perspective.

The AMR Vendors & Technologies Report 2007 also contains information on 12 metering vendors, including products, recent ownership changes, financials, shipments, customers and estimated market share. The report is available for $495.

This 49-page report is part of Chartwell’s Metering Research Series, which includes approximately six annual research reports, monthly news reporting and analysis and other publications.
