Chartwell Best Practices Award to recognize innovation in advanced metering and data management

Chartwell Best Practices Award to recognize innovation in advanced metering and data management

ATLANTA – For the second year Chartwell will recognize an innovative utility for an advanced metering or data management initiative through its Best Practices Award for Advanced Metering & Data Management.

The award is given to utilities that can demonstrate results based on innovation, depth of business case and achieved goals. Applicable areas include:

  • Recently completed or ongoing installations;
  • The use of advanced metering for operational and customer service applications; or
  • The use of advanced metering and data management for demand side management programs.

 In 2007, a panel of Chartwell researchers chose Chatham-Kent Energy’s Smart Metering Program as the award winner for its innovation, execution and results. Chatham-Kent Energy recently installed Tantalus’ two-way Advanced Metering Infrastructure at a fraction of the originally estimated cost, integrated it with a meter data management system, and used the technology as a vehicle for time-of-use billing and other utility services.

Chartwell’s Best Practices Award for Advanced Metering & Data Management is open to entrants from any size electric, gas or combination investor-owned, government-owned or cooperative utility in North America. Vendors and consultants aiding utilities in advanced metering and data management projects may also enter specific utility programs with permission from the utility involved. The award winner will be announced at Chartwell’s Metering & Data Management Summit, April 24-25 in Atlanta, Ga., and will be recognized in upcoming Chartwell publications.

Award entries are due March 14. For entry requirements, an entry form or to enter online, visit http://www.chartwellinc.com/MDATaward.cfm. For information on Chartwell’s Advanced Metering & Data Management Summit, visit http://www.chartwellinc.com/MDAT.cfm.
