Chartwell summit to feature industry experts from J.D. Power, R.J. Rudden Associates; focus on distribution upgrades and outage prevention

ATLANTA – February 7, 2006 – Chartwell’s inaugural Distribution Reliability Summit will feature two renowned industry experts as well as case study presentations from leading utilities recognized for their efforts on improving reliability and outage management.

With the recent spate of inclement winter weather hitting much of the nation and severe hurricane seasons still fresh in memory, reliability matters more than ever to North American utilities. The Chartwell Distribution Reliability Summit will bring together leading utilities and experts to discuss the most efficient ways to better serve customers and reduce costly outages.

The Summit, to be held March 8-9 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, will feature keynote presentations from Al Destribats, Senior Director, Utility & Telecommunications Practices, J.D. Power and Associates, who will discuss the importance of distribution system upgrades and reliability on customer satisfaction, and Leonard S. Hyman, Senior Financial Analyst, Economist and Policy Advisor for R.J. Rudden Associates, who will talk about outage prevention from the financial analyst’s perspective and why reliability matters to the utility’s bottom line.

Participating utilities include Progress Energy, Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, We Energies, PPL Electric Utilities, PSE&G of New Jersey, Orlando Utilities Commission, and others.

The Chartwell Distribution Reliability Summit is the first best practices event held in conjunction with Chartwell’s all-new energy delivery and reliability research series. Like all Chartwell executive summits, the Chartwell Distribution Reliability Summit is open to utility-only participants, with the exception of a limited number of special event sponsors, and will provide an interactive forum for distribution, operations and outage management professionals to discuss and share ideas. Topics slated for this summit include:

  • Improving Operations
  • Upgrading Infrastructure
  • Vegetation Management
  • Storm Hardening
  • Measuring Reliability
  • Workforce Management

Summit participants will also get an exclusive first look at brand-new Chartwell research findings in distribution reliability. This unique Chartwell research is the first-of-its-kind to focus on improving reliability and energy delivery operations in the North American utility industry.

The Chartwell Distribution Reliability Summit is open to utility executives, directors and program managers responsible for energy delivery, reliability and outage programs. Sponsors include Oracle-SPL, the special event sponsor, and the Southeastern Electric Exchange (SEE), sponsoring organization.
